In August 2016 GlobalX launched a new cloud-based software solution, Matter Centre, to serve small-to- medium conveyancing and legal organisations. Matter Centre has been developed for conveyancers by GlobalX’s own team of conveyancers and legal technologists. By integrating with the Property Exchange Australia (PEXA) platform, Matter Centre enables conveyancers to perform traditional and electronic property settlements. The advent of electronic conveyancing in Australia has been a revolutionary change for conveyancers and lawyers, who now can perform property settlements online in addition to, or rather than, via the more time-consuming paper-based process.
Born out of a Council of Australian Government (COAG) initiative, the PEXA platform allows the online processing of new mortgages, mortgage discharges, transfer of ownership, settlement, caveats and notices, eliminating the need to physically attend settlements, while reducing the prevalence of errors in property transactions. Importantly, PEXA has been the first national platform to host stakeholders involved in the transfer of property online.
